leadership

2015-2016

De'jha Graham

Hey, Im De'jha Graham but a lot of people call me Daisy. I've been on this team for 4 years and I'vge been on leadershio for 2 years. I am currently on Small Military, Large Military, All Female, Coed Dance and Coed Hip Hop. I wanted to be leadership because I wanted to lead this team to success, while helping each individual slowly discover their passion to dance. My Main goal was to ensure that our bond as a family didn't get lost in our hard work. The thing I lovge most about the team is that there is constant hard work being put out by everyone. When we are out on the floor dancing all our our intentions are the same, which only strengthens our success as a whole.

Isabelle Castillo

Team member: 2013-2016

Leadership: 2015-2016

Small Teams: Large Military, Small Military, All Female, Coed Hip Hop

I took on the role of becoming leadership to help team members grow as dancers and individuals. As well as give people a place to come to work hard doing what they love.

I love the Mira Mesa Dance Team because no matter how much we go through in the year it still gives me motivation and determination to return the next year. This is team wouldnt be anything else other than family to me.

Aleah Pasag

Hi, my name is Aleah Pasag. This is my second time being on the Mira Mesa dance team. This is my first year being on leadership. The teams I'm on recently are, small military, large military, all female, and hip hop. I wanted to be on leadership because I wanted to help organize the team and promote unity within the team. I love the team because it's filled with a bunch of hard working kids and it's not just a team, it's a family.

I've been on this team for 2 years and this is my first year on leadership. I'm on large military, small military, coed dance, and coed hip hop. I wanted to be on leadership because I was inspired by an alumni to be someone that everyone could talk to and look up to. I wanted to make a positive impact and make sure that everyone gets to voice out their opinions. What I love most about the team is how every individual is unique and motivated. They all work extremely hard to be the best they can be both on and off stage.

Adeline Laurino

My name is Adeline Laurino and I have been on the team for 3 years now. I have been on leadership for 2 years. The teams I'm on are Small Military, Large Military, All Female, Co-Ed Dance, and Co-Ed Hip Hop. I wanted to join leadership so that I could share my passion for dance and the people on the team. I hope to guide them to work hard together and grow together as dancers and individuals. What I love most about the team are our practices where I can vibe off my teammates energy and motivation, knowing that it's going to pay off at the end of our season.

I've been on MMDT for 3 years and its my first year on leadership. I'm on Coed Traditional, Coed hip hop, and all male. I wanted to be on leadership so that I could help better the team and be an authoritative figure that people could also look up to. I wanted to be able to help people improve in both their dancing and their attitude on life. My favorite thing about this team is definitely the people on the team. Every single one of them has impacted my life positively and I'm glad i've gotten to know them. I also love how everyone is able to bond while doing something we all love. Dancing.

Joey De Jesus

Hey! My name is Joey De Jesus, I've been on the team for 3 years now and I have had the leadership role for 2 years. When trying out for leadership my freshman year, I honestly wanted to see if I could handle such tasks my preceding leadership have done. However, my motive to be on leadership has changed since then. Now my reasons to be a captain are simply because I want to see people grow, whether it's me, my team, or even my coaches. With this whole dance team experience, someone is bound to grow within the time they're here. That is why I love being a captain also, it gives you a chance to see this evolution happen right in front of you. Over these past two years being a captain for this team, I have learned that many people misinterpret what the actual leadership title is for. Most say it's for the 'title' it's power over everyone else. I believed this once too, but as I grew with the team over the years my opinion has changed. Even when I was a rookie captain, experiencing leadership first hand was surprising for me because of what I've learned from the Veteran Captains and all of the things I must do for my team. I realized What the word 'selfless' really means, and that my job goes beyond making choreography and counting a simple 8 count. That is what I love about leadership and the team as a whole. It's not only a never ending learning experience that will help me become a true leader in the future, but it also allows me to witness my team grow as a whole as I express myself in the form of dance
